Facilities and Capacity
This expansive zoo has numerous event spaces, with three in particular standing out for wedding parties. The Treetops Terrace can host up to 500 guests in large wedding parties. Its spacious ceiling hosts giant LED ornaments in a variety of themed shapes for extra atmosphere. The Rainforest Stilt House is a two-story venue offering an ideal open-air space for 40 to 90 guests. The Gazebos are centrally located in the zoo, offering covered picnic table-style seating for 40 to 80 guests. The zoo offers complimentary parking on most days with the option of shuttles. All zoo areas are wheelchair-accessible, except for The Aviary
Services Offered
Wedding events that can be held in The Los Angeles Zoo include engagement parties, bridal showers, receptions, and rehearsal dinners. The L.A. Zoo Lights package includes venue rental, tables, chairs, linens, sound, lighting, heaters, sound decibel monitoring, setup, cleanup, and an onsite event coordinator. Animal walkabouts with an animal ambassador and keeper are also available as a unique offering.
Cuisine
You will be able to coordinate with Taste of the Wild Catering for your wedding catering and bar service. Picnic buffet packages available offer buffets, with additional options for cocktail receptions, plated dinners, and hors d'oeuvres. Cash and open bar service are available with a variety of beverages to suit all tastes.
Other Services
In addition to wedding events, the zoo can host many other special events and private parties. These include cocktail receptions, corporate events, family reunions, galas, wrap parties, and trade shows. Milestone events such as birthdays, baby showers, sweet sixteens, and quinceañeras can be also be held in the zoo.
History
The Los Angeles Zoo opened on November 28, 1966, the result of a $6.6 million bond passed by the citizens of the city a decade earlier. A wide variety of animals could be accommodated with a new zoo in a more spacious location, now at over 1,400 animal residents. The zoo has seen many changes over the years with expansions, new exhibits, and improvements towards animal welfare.

If you want to have a venue that no one will forget; this is the place! Our experience with the LA Zoo events staff was great. Amber our coordinator was more than helpful and open to ideas and she made sure that the night went off without a hitch. We recently tied the knot at our church and had our reception on 5/4/2019. We had river otter, owls, elephants and more to look at. This was a truly a fairy tale experience and I am glad that we choose them. The only part that I would say was a negative was that you have to use their caterer for dinner, which gives you less options for food and price ranges. However, the food we did have tasted amazing and everyone loved it, so this is really not a compliant.
